Many programs at the University of Washington address climate change, from the physical sciences that make up the core of the Program on Climate Change, to students, staff and faculty in biology, law, policy, engineering, and more. Subsets of this population, which include members of the PNW Climate Impacts group, study local climate, climate change, and the associated impacts and adaptation strategies. A few also look at mitigation strategies. So, the daunting task of this years' thematic emphasis was to put these groups together at various events to create interdisciplinary opportunities for exchange of ideas.
