Insights into the ITCZ-Meridional Overturning Circulation by current and past UW climate scientists, and others

Dargan Frierson, Yen-Ting Hwang, Elizabeth Maroon, Xiaojuan Liu and David Battisti, of UW, along with past PCC fellow Aaron Donohoe, use satellite observations of the Earth’s energy budget and global climate model simulations to show that the meridional overturning circulation contributes significantly to the ITCZ by transporting heat from the Southern Hemisphere to the Northern Hemisphere
