Baliga: "Predicting Consequences of Environmental Change on Biological Systems"

Start Date/Time: Tuesday, November 23, 2010, 4:00 PM
Location: PHYSICS/ASTRONOMY Auditorium A102

Speaker: Dr. Nitin Baliga, Institute for Systems Biology

Biological systems represent a spectacular repertoire of solutions for diverse and complex environmental challenges. The capabilities of an individual organism, however, are constrained by its evolution in a physicochemically coupled environmental framework. I will demonstrate how this works to our advantage as it allows us to construct mathematical models of biological networks that can explain and predict how they would behave in new environments.
