ABOUT THIS Conference:
Climate change has become a front-page issue that is quickly rising to the top of the political agenda and is becoming a hot issue for businesses and attorneys. Washington has recently passed path-breaking legislation establishing economy-wide limits on global warming pollution, joining California and a number of other leadership states that have begun to adopt aggressive climate legislation. Western states, as well as many states in the Northeast and Midwest, have joined together to establish regional programs to cap climate pollution. These state and regional efforts address the whole range of activities that cause climate pollution, and create the potential for a regulatory patchwork for businesses to contend with. In part due to the fast action at state and regional levels, there is increased pressure from the public, many businesses, and politicians for the United States to adopt climate legislation at the federal level.
